Sierra Leone Agape Voluntary Effort (SAVE) is a US-based Christian nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, founded 30 years ago. SAVE supports local, Bible-based partners that share the transforming message of Jesus Christ in Sierra Leone and the Gambia. Our partners are involved in church planting, pastoral and counselor training, student faith development, and addressing the physical needs of the communities they serve. SAVE provides funding, expertise, and connections to our partners. Donations are welcome. Learn more at SAVE—Sierra Leone Agape Voluntary Effort.
Our Story
SAVE was originally formed as a bridge between dire humanitarian and spiritual needs created by the horrific civil war in Sierra Leone (1991-2002) and resources in the West.
Save works to meet those needs through mature, indigenous Christian ministries where our members have long-standing personal relationships.
We have remained active with this mandate since then through those original partnerships plus village church planting, Christian school support and periodic responses to catastrophic needs in the country — especially related to the epidemic of the Ebola virus and the horrendous Freetown mudslide.
